Overview

Apex Trader Funding is a futures firm from Austin, Texas, founded in 2021. You pay a one-time fee for a 30-day evaluation and trade it through Rithmic, Tradovate or WealthCharts, which means NinjaTrader and TradingView work too. It suits day traders who like running several accounts at once.

How the evaluation works

Both versions come in 25K, 50K, 100K and 150K, with profit targets of $1,500, $3,000, $6,000 and $9,000, which is 6% at every size.

  • EOD evaluation: max drawdown of $1,000, $2,000, $3,000 or $4,000 that trails your end-of-day balance. There's also a daily loss limit of $500 to $2,000, and hitting it pauses you for the session.

  • Intraday evaluation: same targets and drawdown amounts, but the floor trails your peak balance in real time, open profit included. No daily loss limit.

With no minimum trading days, you pass the moment you hit the target. The evaluation expires after 30 calendar days, with no extension. After passing you have seven days to pay the Performance Account activation fee.

Rules worth knowing

All trades must be closed by 4:50 PM ET, so nothing is held overnight or over the weekend. News is fine, but you can only be on one side of the market during an event. Bots, algorithms and AI-driven trading are banned on every account type. You can copy trades across your own Performance Accounts.

Getting paid

Performance Accounts pay 100% of each approved payout, up to weekly. You need five trading days that each meet a minimum daily profit, no single day worth 50% or more of profit since the last payout, and at least $500 to withdraw above the safety net. Each account allows six payouts, then closes. US traders get paid by ACH, everyone else through Apex's payment provider, Plane.

What traders say

Scores from the sites traders use, and our summary of what they're saying, checked 6 October 2026.

Apex is one of the most reviewed futures prop firms, rated 4.2 on Trustpilot from about 21,100 reviews, and opinion on it is split. Plenty of traders say they get paid as long as they stick to the rules, and they like being able to run a lot of accounts cheaply. The low reviews mostly say the rules keep changing or tightening, and that payouts get cut or held once a trader is in profit.

What traders like

  • It pays if you follow the rules. This is the most common positive line on Trustpilot and in recent Reddit threads from May and June 2026.

  • Lots of accounts. Many reviewers like that you can hold up to 20 funded accounts at once, and some say it's the firm they use for stacking.

  • Low prices. Frequent discounts come up again and again as a reason people buy.

  • Clearer rules since the 2026 overhaul. A few review sites say the newer account types are easier to follow than the old ones.

Common complaints

  • Rules that pile up. A steady share of low Trustpilot reviews say new restrictions, violations or deductions appear just as profit builds.

  • Payouts held back or reduced. Several reviewers, on Trustpilot and Reddit, say payouts were denied or trimmed over consistency and similar rules. This complaint goes back to 2024.

  • Rigid support in disputes. Some say support points back to the written formula and won't look at their case.

  • A divided reputation. Reddit threads keep asking whether Apex is worth it, and replies swing between satisfied traders and people who left for other firms.

Recently

  • March 2026: the Apex 4.0 update swapped the monthly subscription for a one-time evaluation fee. Metals trading came back in May.

  • July to October 2026: review sites' Trustpilot snapshots have slipped from about 4.4 in early July to 4.2 by October, and Trustpilot itself now shows four stars. Reviews from the last few weeks still lean on rule and deduction complaints.

Where this comes from

  • Trustpilot: the firm's main review page, the biggest pool of reviews.

  • Forex Peace Army: trader write-ups, mostly about drawdown and payout rules.

  • Reddit search: threads in r/Daytrading, r/Trading and r/PropFirmTester.
