Overview

Spreadex is a UK spread betting and CFD firm based in St Albans that's been going since 1999. It also runs a sports betting business, which surprises some people, but the trading side is its own thing and is regulated by the FCA. It suits UK traders who place trades by hand, want tax-free spread betting and like a broker that answers the phone. If you run EAs or bots, look elsewhere.

Accounts and costs

You open one financial account and can spread bet or trade CFDs from it, in GBP, EUR or USD. There's no minimum deposit. Pricing is mostly in the spread, from about 0.6 pips on EUR/USD, and share CFDs add a commission of around 0.15% of the trade value. Retail leverage tops out at 1:30 on major FX pairs, and retail clients get negative balance protection. There's no inactivity fee. UK clients are covered by the FSCS up to £85,000. One catch: there's no demo, so you're trading real money from day one.

Platforms and markets

Spreadex builds its own web platform and apps, and you can also connect the account to TradingView and spread bet or trade CFDs from the charts there. There's no MT4, MT5, cTrader or API. The range is wide, with over 10,000 markets: 60 or so FX pairs, thousands of share CFDs including AIM small caps, indices, ETFs, commodities, bonds, interest rates and options. Crypto is only open to professional clients.

Money in and out

Deposits go in by debit card or bank transfer from an account in your name. Standard withdrawals are free, and Spreadex says most were processed in under 30 minutes in 2025. International transfers and non-sterling bank payments cost extra, and the minimum withdrawal is £5.

What traders say

Scores from the sites traders use, and our summary of what they're saying, checked 6 October 2026.

Spreadex reviews well with the people who rate it, though much of its Trustpilot pool comes from sports bettors rather than traders. Its Trustpilot page, listed as Spreadex Sports and covering the whole spreadex.com domain, shows a 4-star rating from about 2,270 reviews. Good Money Guide users rate it 4.3 from 272 reviews, and its verified-client reviews on TradingView are almost all positive.

What traders like

  • Service by phone. Reviewers often mention that Spreadex answers the phone and that staff are helpful.

  • TradingView link. Many TradingView reviewers like trading from TradingView charts, especially since spread betting was added there.

  • Execution and pricing. Several reviewers mention quick fills and decent spreads on indices and forex, and like the access to smaller UK stocks.

  • Ease of use. The in-house platform and apps get frequent praise for being simple.

Common complaints

  • Spreads not the tightest. Some traders on forums say spreads are fine but not the most competitive.

  • Withdrawals and checks. A few reviewers describe slow withdrawals or repeated document requests while an account was blocked. Several of these come from the sports and now-closed casino side, so they may not reflect the trading account. Review sites also list withdrawal speed and support consistency as recurring complaints.

  • Missing features. Some traders want a demo account on the web platform, copy trading or automation, which Spreadex does not offer.

Recently

Recent Trustpilot reviews from the last few weeks are mostly positive and mostly from sports customers. We found no dated trading-specific issues in the last 90 days.
