Overview
Ironbeam is a Chicago futures broker that's also a CME Group clearing member, so when you open an account you're dealing directly with the firm that clears your trades rather than an introducing broker in the middle. It suits active futures day traders, especially those trading micro and mini equity index contracts. Ironbeam, Inc. is registered with the CFTC as a Futures Commission Merchant and is a member of the NFA.
Accounts and costs
There's no minimum deposit to open a live account, and you can choose individual, joint, IRA or corporate accounts. Ironbeam itself recommends at least $1,000 if you're day trading micros and $10,000 for minis. Day trade margins start at $50 on popular micro contracts, $500 on minis and $10 on nanos. You pay a commission per contract plus exchange, clearing and NFA fees. The Ironbeam platform is free and includes Level 1 and Level 2 CME data. Getting money out by wire costs $40 domestically and $60 internationally.
Platforms and markets
The in-house Ironbeam platform runs on desktop, web and mobile, with 300+ indicators and server-side bracket and trailing orders. Ironbeam is also an official TradingView broker partner, and it supports Sierra Chart, CQG, Rithmic, MultiCharts, Bookmap, MotiveWave and its own API for automated trading. Third-party platforms charge their own fees. Markets are futures and options on futures, mostly on CME Group exchanges. There's a demo account too.
Money in and out
Deposits come in by wire transfer, usually available within a business day, or ACH, which takes a few days and has limits. Withdrawals go out by wire or cheque, and ACH deposits must go back to the same bank account for the first 60 days. Client money is held in a customer segregated account.
